How to store food right: A guide to help you have food in a crisis

First and formost is the most basic part choosing which food you want to conserve. I would recomend to store food with high protein and high calories, With more calories you will be able to get more days with the limited food that you have. In the following chapter i will explain how and what to alwyas to have at home.

What food should i have?

Many people think that you do not need to have food stored at home for a extra week or so. But i need to say that it is VERY important to have a reserve. As i wrote in the chapter beforehand you need high protein and high calorie food hat home. In th following list you can see my top 5 foods to store:

  • Potatoes
  • Rice
  • canned tuna
  • wheat flour
  • high calorie protein bars

The list is in no order becous all these foods are basic ingrediants for your daily needs if you can’t buy new supplys every 3 days. But don’t just have food at home. Without a fresh water supply you won’t last 2 days. So have at least 5 gallons per person at home for a safe buffer.

How do i store the food and water?

Water is pretty simple. Store it in your normal gallon bottles and you should be good to go! Foods on the other hand are a completly different topic. Potatos and other vegtables should be stored in a cool room to not spoil or that fast. (celler or basement) other ingrideants in a air thight container so it will last about 3 – 9 months without the need to be replaced. Try to buy your food in cans if possible. Canned food last very very long. It lasts about 1 – 2 years so this is the best option.

What if i do not have any money for supplys?

A very low budget option is to just buy canned tuna or canned soup and water. Thats it. More you won’t need for 1 – 2 weeks of a emergency. For a more long therm soultion i will make another post about what to do there.

Final thoughts

A food emegerny supply is the biggest neccesity for every person. So go on and start shopping for food so that you won’t need to worry about anything!
